Preface
This is the first edition of CAN/CSA-E62133, Secondary cells and batteries containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes - Safety requirements for portable sealed secondary cells, and for batteries made from them, for use in portable applications, which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 62133 (second edition, 2012-12). It is one in a series of Standards issued by CSA Group under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code. For brevity, this Standard will be referred to as "CAN/CSA-E62133" throughout.
Scope
This International Standard specifies requirements and tests for the safe operation of portable sealed secondary cells and batteries (other than button) containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolyte, under intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse.
